Leonard Bernstein - Beyond 'West Side Story'
Leonard Bernstein was a true musical genius who influenced audiences around the world with his conducting and compositions. Born a Jew of Ukrainian parents, he grew up in America and became a musical giant. Many of his compositions have Jewish themes and today we will be learning a bit about three of them: Chichester Psalms for boy soprano, chorus and orchestra; Symphony No. 3, Kaddish for Orchestra, chorus, speaker and soprano; music from the ballet the "Dybbuk" based on Kabbalistic Jewish folklore. The music will have audio and video examples.
